The Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust are dedicated to not only conserving and protecting the environment but to showcasing the abundant sea life and culture of Vieques as well. Their museum displays artifacts from 3000 BCE and replicas of ancient pottery from the island. The archeological and architectural aspects contribute to Vieques’ beauty and the organization’s mission is to preserve it for years to come.
El Faro Punta Mulas
Atop a hill surrounded by lush greenery is El Faro Punta Mulas. This beautiful lighthouse was built in 1895 and is utilized now as a museum dedicated to the natural history of the island. Not only is it a terrific place to learn more about Vieques history, but the grounds are filled with vibrant gardens and a gazebo overlooking the Vieques shore.
Vieques Military Bunkers
The Vieques Military Bunkers are historic sides hidden away by the tall grass and greenery of the island. These buildings make a great stop before heading to the beach and you may come across one of the famous Paso Fino horses snacking on same grass nearby.
