"Hacienda Tamarindo, a
small, romantic inn with a gigantic tamarind tree growing up through
its middle, has balconies overlooking the beach, rooms decked out
with antiques, and an honor bar where patrons can help themselves
anytime they please. Ringing in at just under $200 per night during
high season, it’s an unbeatable deal for a high-quality stay."

Our Splurge Pick: Hacienda Tamarindo

Perched on a hill just high enough to catch the trade wind breezes,
and with a stunning 180 degree view of the Caribbean, Hacienda
Tamarindo is the best spot to be, from sunrise to sunset. This
16-room inn is beautifully decorated; each room is originally
designed and filled with a unique accumulation of art and antiques.
But perhaps the most fascinating thing about this intimate-feeling
hotel is the ancient Tamarind tree that grows three stories through
the center of the building - the owners couldn't bear to cut it
down, so they built around it!

Amenities include a tempting fresh water pool, a fully stocked honor
bar, and boxed beach lunches upon request. Most rooms have AC, and
all have hair dryers, beach chairs and individualized beverage
coolers you can bring on your day trips. A delicious and generous
breakfast is included daily with your stay. For a true splurge, rent
the inn's luxurious private villa, which features its own private
outdoor dining room, full kitchen, two bathrooms and porch.

"Vieques
is almost discovered, and the Hacienda Tamarindo is the best B&B inn
on the island. The staff was great. For a fascinating, laid-back

"really does have the air of an old, lived-in farmstead-tiny
balconies, individually designed rooms, a green parrot that whistles
at ladies, and breakfast served under the tamarind tree-that has
thrown its doors open to wayfaring guests." FODOR'S GUIDE

CARIBBEAN TRAVEL & LIFE
"...highly recommended is the brightly eclectic Hacienda Tamarindo,
where decor ranges from kaleidoscopically stone-faced masks to grape
and cherub-gilded mirrors. Rise early to grab the best breakfast
seat in the house-- under the spreading tamarind tree--that gives
this laid-back property it's name."
RUM & REGGAE’S
GUIDE TO PUERTO RICO
“We adore the Hacienda
Tamarindo, a 16-room Spanish style inn set on breezy rising grounds
with sweeping views of sloping pastures and the Caribbean. The Vails
are a very amiable and hospitable couple, and their friendly and
helpful style as innkeepers is one of the great things about the
Hacienda. With it, they’ve created an extraordinarily comfortable and
warm environment."
